Student Graduation Event at Holly Hunt

(March 27, 2010) ASID IL is partnering with Holly Hunt Chicago to congratulate all the graduating student members of ASID during an exciting brunch event on Friday, April 16th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Please join us for food, a brief presentation, a tour of the Holly Hunt showroom, and a chance to win one of two specialty leather bags provided by Edelman Leather and Texstyle.  This event is open to  all ASID student members.

ASID - IL Partners with the Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair and CINOA to Present "Designer Discoveries" and "Designers-On-Call" in Chicago 

Ten local ASID designers to select their top finds and be "on-call" at the Midwest's leading exhibition of antiques and fine art April 30 - May 3, 2010 at The Merchandise Mart


CHICAGO (March 4, 2010) - The American Society of Interior Designers - Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) today announces its partnership with The Merchandise Mart International Antiques FairTM and CINOA to present "Designer Discoveries" and "Designers-on-Call" this spring in Chicago. Both special features will take place at The Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair,TM April 30 - May 3, 2010 at The Merchandise Mart, part of the annual ARTROPOLISTM, a citywide celebration of art, antiques and culture.

"The ASID designers participating have undergone rigorous training throughout their years of education and practical, hands-on work experience. The Antiques Fair is a great time for consumers to access our professional advice in a very relaxed atmosphere surrounded by marvelous antiquities," said Joan M. Kaufman, ASID, FSII, LEED AP of Naperville, Ill.-based Interior Planning & Design, Inc. and ASID-IL president 2009-2010.

"Designer Discoveries": Expert Picks at the Fair
Ten local members of the Illinois Chapter of ASID will share their favorite finds at the Spring 2010 Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair. Interior designers have the expert eye in selecting unique, stunning antique furnishings, accents and art. Each designer will select an item prior to the start of the Fair and their pieces will be highlighted throughout The Fair.

"Designers-on-Call": Designers Available for Consumers at the Fair
Ideal for consumers who are curious about how to incorporate antique pieces into their home's space, the "Designers-on-Call" feature connects Fair attendees with registered, professional interior designers in the state. The ASID distinction brings with it unparalleled training, education, expertise, breadth of knowledge, management skills and resources consumers can acquire through working with a professional.

The "Designers-on-Call" service is available for interested attendees who want personal tours of the floor or a consultation regarding purchases. Appointments should be made prior to the Antiques Fair and must be confirmed with a nominal amount of $10. Once payment is made, attendees will be registered to win two tickets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Walk-in consultation requests will be accommodated as space is available and will not be eligible for the CSO tickets.

Design Summit 2010 - Founder of Gloria Jean's Coffee To Present Keynote Address
February 25, 2010 

CHICAGO (Jan. 5, 2010) ─ The American Society of Interior Designers - Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) today announces the date and program outline for its sixth annual Design Summit. The 2010 event - with the theme of "Riding the Recession Rebound" - features keynote speaker Gloria Jean, founder of Gloria Jean's Coffee. The one-day conference and exposition takes place on the 8th floor of The Merchandise Mart Design Center in Chicago on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

"Many of our commercial and residential design members have reported a slight uptick in business over the last two quarters. Our goal at the Design Summit is to present ways to capture new business while serving current clients through 2010 and beyond," said John P. Cialone, ASID of Tom Stringer Design Partners in Chicago.

Cialone adds, "We're happy to offer the same low price as last year - just $50 for ASID and IIDA members - but with the additional opportunity to earn four CEU credits in a single day. That's a $300+ value."

Design Summit 2010 encompasses three popular ASID Illinois Chapter programs: Professional Development and Continuing Education, Student Career Day and an Expo Trade Show. Design Summit takes place Feb. 25, 2010 at Chicago's Merchandise Mart with a focus on
"Riding the Recession Rebound"

CHICAGO (Feb. 10, 2010) ─ The American Society of Interior Designers - Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) today announces several new vendors that will be showcasing their latest products and services at its sixth annual Design Summit. The one-day conference and exposition takes place on the 8th floor of The Merchandise Mart Design Center in Chicago on Thursday,
Feb. 25, 2010, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. This year's theme is "Riding the Recession Rebound" and features keynote speaker Gloria Jean, founder of Gloria Jean's Coffee.

Interior designers from any organization and students in the industry can attend the Design Summit exhibition for FREE. For a nominal registration fee, they will be provided lunch, and can attend two inspirational keynote addresses, as well as their choice of six CEU-accredited seminars.

NEW VENDORS
The 2010 ASID-IL Design Summit welcomes vendors that have never-before exhibited in the event's history. "We are very excited to welcome brand new names to the Design Summit, some of whom rarely exhibit in the Chicago-area marketplace.
