Brent Huffman

2003-0224 Student Representative to the Board

The 2003-2004 Student Representative to the Board is Brent Huffman. As Student Representative, Brent would like to help develop more networking opportunities for students by integrating professional designers into student activities.

In the last couple of years he has increased his involvement in the design community. He became the 2002-2003 Harrington ASID chapter president in the fall of 2002 and worked hard to make ASID more of a presence on campus. Soon after becoming chapter president, he started a monthly Design Events Calendar to inform students about upcoming lectures, gallery exhibitions and trade shows in the Chicagoland area. Students have become more familiar and involved in the design community. This has helped students to network with professionals in the industry, and as a result, the calendar has been integrated into Harrington's Career Services department.

Brent grew up near Cincinnati, Ohio. Before attending Harrington College of Design, he worked in restaurant and retail management for a number of years before pursuing a career in interior design. He was awarded first prize in the non-residential category of the 2003 Illinois ASID design competition in February. Brent received his associates of applied science in May 2003 and will receive his bachelors of fine arts in May 2004.
